The first crystalline glaze appeared in Chinese porcelain during the late Ming Dynasty. Later it reappeared in the Art Nouveau style to reproduce antique Chinese porcelains. Now this rare porcelain glazing technique is being re-created and perfected by master artisan Wen Shawn. SevenPorts provides a complete range of styles and sizes to accommodate any collector’s range. Their specialty is the oversized pieces of crystalline which are rare and very hard to have produced with consistency. Only a handful of artisans are able to produce oversized crystalline pieces of art in the world and only a select few have refined the consistent quality that master artist Wen Shawn provides SevenPorts customers
with daily.

Due to the extreme challenges of the firing process there is a high loss of pieces, sometimes as extreme as a 50 percent loss ratio. Those that survive are high prized and cherished for generations.

No two crystalline glazed pieces are ever identical in the random crystal flower pattern or the fluid mixing of the colors in the glaze. As light reflects off of the crystals at different angles the colors will come to life creating a shimmer of light from any viewing angle. The artist himself carefully oversees each delicate step in the making of the crystalline glazed piece. Each masterpiece is guaranteed to be one of a kind, infinitely rare and unique.
